TCM Qigong Therapy

Traditional Chinese Medicine( TCM) refers to a broad range of medicine practices sharing common theoretical concepts which have been developed in China and are based on a tradition of more than 5,000 years, including various forms of herbal medicine, acupuncture, massage, exercise (qigong) and dietary therapy. These practices are a common part of medical care throughout East Asia, but are considered alternative in the Western world.

TCM is a system of medical health care that is based on the Chinese concept of harmony and balance and is the second largest form of medicine in the world. TCM takes a deep understanding of the patterns and laws of the natural world around us and applies them to the human body, working with the body’s energy (qi or chi) and acupoints found on the meridian channels, rivers of energy that are found in the body.

Medical Qigong Energy Therapy is a medical science and is the oldest of the main branches of Traditional Chinese Medicine - TCM alongside Acupuncture, Acupressure, Herbal Medicine and Tui-Na (Chinese massage) which are mainstream medicine in China and are becoming ever more popular methods of medicine here in the west as although it is an ancient art, modern science research is increasingly able to explain how energy medicine works.

Medical Qigong is Chinese energy therapy using the transmission of energy (qi or chi) for the maintenance of health through both preventative and remedial treatments, for both physical and emotional health issues. It is Chinese healing using the transmission of healing qi for maintenance of health through both preventative and remedial treatments.

During the treatment, the therapist also uses a number of ‘off the body’ techniques to balance and stimulate the body’s energy systems and own healing mechanisms. The patient is often prescribed qigong exercise techniques specific to their health challenges. These exercises combine breathing, movement and meditation and can be practised at home. This helps to strengthen the self healing power, improve health and wellbeing, giving the patient the ability to take control of their own health.
